Organization of computers, elementary programming, and problem solving. Applications in such areas as calculation and visualization, communication, databases, graphics, and artificial intelligence. Origins of the modern digital computer, future trends, social impact, abuses.

Grading

• Labs: 75%

  Labs will be submitted via email. There will be roughly one lab per class. Labs should be turned in anytime before the last day of classes.

• Final Coding Project: 20%

  Students can work in a group or alone. Topic can be chosen by student. I will also provide a list of project ideas. Details to come.

• Course Surveys: 5%

  Periodically, I will give technical surveys to check student comprehension. These will not be graded. However, the top ten scoring students will recieve ten bonus points added to their final project grade.
